A journey along the Costa Brava in Spain

Discover this ideal route along the Spanish coast, including an itinerary for your Costa Brava trip. Enjoy the best beaches to visit in a motorhome such as Castell d’Aro, while discovering the surrounding medieval villages of Pals or Palau-Sator, as well as the historical and archaeological sites in the area. This route along the Mediterranean Sea has medieval charm and delicious traditional Catalan gastronomy.

Day 1: Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Castell d'Aro and the Camino de Ronda

The route starts in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, through its central beach, old town and the beauty of Castell d'Aro, with its church and castle. In Sant Feliu, you can visit the beach, shops, the Monastery, the Porta Ferrada and the Torre del Fum. From Sant Feliu de Guíxols, you can take the Camino de Ronda, which goes from the port to the beach of Sant Pol. The path has quite a few stairs and it is important to be well informed about the trail to follow, but you will be able to discover unforgettable places such as Cala Jonca, Cala Ametller and all the small coves such as Cala de Peix or Sa Caleta.

Day 2: The medieval villages of Pals, Palau-Sator, Peratallada and Monells

The second day of the route starts in Pals, with its old town, cobbled streets, towers and gardens, and its famous rice. Then continues towards Palau-Sator, a quiet and charming village with monuments such as the Torre de les Hores, part of the old Palau-Sator castle. Next, in Peratallada, with its nautical atmosphere, you can taste local dishes in one of the restaurants in this beautiful stone village. The route ends in the small village of Monells, known for its lovely main square and its small old town centre.

Day 3: Torroella de Montgrí, l'Estartit and Medas Islands

Head to Torroella de Montgrí for a medium-difficulty excursion to the Montgrí castle, with incredible views. Afterwards, in L'Estartit, you can spend the night in a motorhome area and enjoy the beaches. From there, we recommend exploring the Medas Islands, either by kayak or by boat. The Medas archipelago has seven islets that constitute one of the most important reserves of marine flora and fauna in the Western Mediterranean, as well as one of the favourite destinations for scuba diving enthusiasts.

Day 4: Bisbal d'Empordà, Ullastret, Matajudaica and Castell d'Empordà

On the fourth day of this coastal route, visit Bisbal d'Empordà, known as the capital of ceramics in Girona. You can buy ceramic objects here and taste  "Bisbalenc", a typical local cake. The tour continues to Ullastret, where you can park and explore the impressive historical sites such as Puig de Sant Andreu, the largest Iberian city discovered in Catalonia so far. From here it is possible to visit the rural village of Matajudaica, built around a church dating from 1081, with narrow alleys belonging to old farmhouses from the 16th and 17th centuries. Finally, in Castell d'Empordà, you will find its fortress, transformed into a luxury hotel, and the beautiful church of Sant Martí de Llaneres.
