Normandy and Brittany are blessed with some of the best scenery in France, thankfully English residents are lucky enough to live not too far from these regions!

If you wish to see magnificent beaches, castles, high cliffs and take long walks or benefit in a stress-free environment , don't look any further as this is the right place for you. Here are some tips to plan your journey through beautiful historic sites and quiet wilderness. The area is also perfect for surfers and people who love traditional food and refreshing beers.

How to get there?

The easiest way for UK residents is to simply book a ferry to France, as the rates are often lower than any other transports especially if you plan to travel off-peak.

Once arrived, you will probably want to visit as many places as you can to go home feeling like you didn’t miss anything. It can be challenging as there is plenty of things to do and see but we'll make it easy for you; here are our top things to do in Normandy and Brittany.

1/ Places to visit in Normandy

Etretat Cliff:

This cliff on the Normandy coast offers stunning views and a nice walk if you feel fit enough to go hiking. You can also drive up to the Chapel and use their free parking. The beaches are certainly worth the journey as well!

Claude Monet's House and Gardens

A must-see for all the art and nature lovers out there. Claude Monet managed to create a little slice of heaven with his gardens. You will also have access to the studio with the paintings still in place which is not to be missed! The whole house has been well maintained over the years and is truly inspirational to artists as the atmosphere is an example of quietness and beauty.

Pointe du Hoc

This place has held a big role during WWII as it was a strategic German base. The Allies climbed the cliffs with little equipment to take control of the place which resulted in a massive confrontation and important losses. You can hear stories about DDay veterans in the welcome center and learn more about its history.

Saint-Malo

This city is a favourite among tourists for a reason : Nice fortifications and magnificent beaches await you  as well as very French eateries and bars!

Sentier des Douaniers :

An easy and fabulous walk crossing typical villages where you can rest and eat traditional food. The Cote Granit Rose was named like this for a reason : You will be able to see great geological formations and the paths are very well maintained, as the pink rocks you will see in the sunlight.

Reserve Naturelle des Sept Iles :

A boat trip between these islands will allow you to see all kinds of birds and protected species. Bring binoculars or a camera to get the most of this experience. The water is coloured with a really nice shade of blue and some companies offer to let you off the boat on some islands so you can get closer to the action.
