For a road trip to the Isle of Skye, your best bet is between May and September. Regardless, the weather can still be very changeable throughout the whole year, so pack an umbrella just in case.

Also keep in mind how the daylight hours work. For those who love sunlight know that in midsummer you can expect the sun to shine for up to 18 hours and drop to only 6 and half hours of daylight in the height of winter.

Claigan Coral Beach

Prepare for a stunning beach but freezing water. Despite this you are sure to enjoy stunning views and beautiful white sand. Despite its name there isn’t coral here. Neist Point Lighthouse

Located on the most westerly tip of Skye is one of Scotland’s most famous lighthouses. Neist Point Lighthouse was constructed in 1900. It is no longer maned has been updated to run on an automated system. The light house is perched 43 meters above sea level and can still be spotted up to 16 nautical miles offshore.

It is highly recommended to avoid the walk if their are high winds and fog as the cliffs can be treacherous under these conditions. Keep in there are steep inclines but these will lead to stunning views of Skye, a much deserved reward for a hearty adventeror.

Dunvegan Castle & Gardens

Almost a compulsory stop for anyone visiting Skye, Dunvegan castle oozes with a fascinating and is sure to keep you intrigued. The castle was constructed nears the shores of Loch Dunvegan on a rocky outcrop. Dunvegan castle is the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland. It has also served as the ancestral home of the Chiefs of Clan MacLeod for over 800 years, and this heritage can be felt echoing the stoney walls.

The castle has been kept in great condition and sports award winning gardens. In this area you can also go on seal boat trips which are fantastic in the summer months.
