Don't let yourself be overwhelmed by the gloom of autumn that has set in, take the opportunity to plan your next getaway for a few days to get away from it all. We recomend a motorhome or campervan road trip in November to Annecy, Cassis and Carcassonne.
Capital of Haute-Savoie, Annecy is the city not to be missed for nature lovers and hikers. Its famous lake surrounded by mountains will offer you an exceptional panorama and activities such as wakeboarding, sailing, stand-up paddle, etc. Nicknamed the little Venice of the Alps, the city of Annecy is also very pleasant to visit. The old town is full of places to stroll, with its cobbled streets, winding canals and pastel-coloured houses. In addition to the walks offered by the city, a cycle path covers the western part of the lake following the old railway line linking Annecy to Faverges.
Discover the Medieval Castle of Annecy! This former residence of the Counts of Geneva, overlooks the city and houses a museum exhibiting many regional treasures as well as an exhibition on natural history.
Around the lake, you will find many hiking trails where impressive panoramas can be discovered. You can also make yourself comfortable on the restaurant terraces bordering the lake.
Many campsites and motorhome areas are available all around Lake Annecy but also near the city center.
Where to stay in November in a motorhome:
Downtown
Located a few kilometers from Marseille, the small town of Cassis is in the heart of the Calanques National Park. For your outing in a motorhome in November, it's easier to settle down in Cassis rather than in the neighboring city of Marseille to enjoy the calm of this beautiful town. Take advantage of your getaway to slow down, discover local life. Take a break on the terrace overlooking the port, lively all year round. Let yourself go in the narrow historic streets.
Fancy a walk? Discover one of the most beautiful roads in France which links Cassis to La Ciotat via the Route des Crêtes. It offers a dizzying panorama of the sea and is, of course, the starting point for many hikes. Our recommendation: the trio of creeks of Port-Miou, Port-Pin and En Vaux!
If you are not settling in a campsite, remember to refuel, water and live as well as drain before entering the Calanques National Park. Once in the area, you will only find car parks with basic amenities.
Immerse yourself in the past and take the Pont-Vieux, from which you can partly admire the fortress and the Château Comtal. From the top of the latter, a panorama of the Montagne Noire, the Bastide Saint-Louis and the Pyrenees will be offered to you.
Take advantage of your stay to also discover what the region has to offer. Also, the surrounding Cathar country is rich in historical and cultural heritage.

If our suggestions for travel in November have made you want to leave, hire a motorhome for your next road trip for an adventure in autumn colors.
