Choosing a leisure battery for a campervan

Anyone who travels by motorhome knows that a well-functioning battery is very important. Motorhomes consume a lot of electricity, which also explains why they usually have two batteries: the starter battery and the leisure battery. The latter is essential to power your equipment, such as lights, pump or a fridge. In order to help you to figure out which kind of leisure battery to choose, we will present the pros and cons of each one and show you how to determine your electricity consumption and the required battery storage capacity.

Types of Campervan Furniture

Campervans are more than just a place to rest your head at night; they’re your home on wheels. Whether you’re spending a few nights at a time in the van, or entire weeks on the road, you want your mobile home to hold all those home comforts you need to feel properly settled in.

Solar panels for a motorhome

Electricity in a motorhome is a recurring problem. With all the electronic appliances like our TV, GPS and coffee machine, we use a lot of electricity. Recharging the battery of our motorhome is essential when on the road. In fact, for every hour on the road, your battery recharges around 8 AH (Amp/hour), yet we use nearly 45 AH (Amp/hour) every day. What’s more, if you’re not driving very often, you will have to find a complementary source of energy if you don’t want to sleep in a tent every night. Solar panels for campervans have become essential, as they are an important energy complement for your auxiliary battery.
